Detailed information:

Objective

This 15-day course will bring candidates from a basic level to the entrance level required for practicing Exam Papers. The course aims at providing and deepening the knowledge of candidates to the level required for passing the European Qualifying Examination (EQE).

Unique Course Concept

This training course is a very intensive course focusing on providing skills for passing the EQE. It is the first training course in Europe where the training for Paper D and Paper C have been fully integrated. During this course basic legal knowledge will be gained, covering all relevant subjects of the EQE, such as novelty, inventive step, priority, unity, extension, entitlement, opposition, appeal, revocation, further processing, re-establishment, representation, languages, time limits, fees, etc. The legal framework encompasses the EPC (including the Guidelines and a selection of Case Law), the PCT, the Paris Convention (PC), and the national law of Contracting States (in as far as is relevant for the EQE). Detailed tactics will be given for dealing with the most common situations in the D and C exam. Two DII Papers and two C Papers will be practiced during the course. One of these papers need to be practiced at home, one will be practiced together in very small steps, identifying all weaknesses candidates may still have. During the course days, tuition will be alternated with sessions in which the candidates will answer questions. Procedural aspects will be practiced using legal questions, focusing on Paper D. Substantive issues will also be practiced using short case studies, focusing on Paper C. Emphasis will be put on topics that regularly appear in the exams, that have come up in recent exams, or that may be expected in the future. In the three course weeks there will be approximately 120 contact hours. Unique to this course is that candidates are expected to study in between the course weeks and to prepare answers to questions at home and to hand-in the answers.
