Invention evaluation and searches

Future success depends on developing and protecting new products and service. But patent protection should be limited to the most suitable and most valuable inventions. The chances of grant are further improved by a novelty search before filing.

We will brainstorm with you to identify possible inventions, distinguish the most important ones and assess their patentability, ensuring strong and defensible patent rights.

We provide a variety of different searches to assist in the evaluation, easily tailored to your needs by agreeing on the scope before any work is done. These services include novelty searches, patent mapping, and competitor analysis. In collaboration with our networks of foreign patent firms, the services can be extended to cover foreign countries. We can then study the results in detail, and provide advice, allowing an informed choice to be made.

Note that most patent office’s conduct an official search for prior art after an application is filed. As the possibilities to amend the application at this stage are limited, we always advise a novelty search before filing.

As insights and strategies develop, the selection criteria can be adapted for use at later milestones, such as foreign filing and patent maintenance reviews.
