Courses overview

Our in-depth courses include an 1-day patent law update which will bring participants up-to-date with recent law changes related to the European Patent Convention (EPC) and the Patent Co-operation Treaty (PCT). We also offer 3-day courses on core EPC procedures and 2-day courses on PCT procedures.

IP Admin – General Aspects Patents + Core EPC Procedures

In this course participants will obtain knowledge of ‘overall issues’ like the priority concept, patent routesand systems, inventor-/ownership, and representation. After attending this module the participant will be able to file a (priority) application and a European patent application (by fax and/or electronic filing), invoke priority and deal with the most occurring issues for getting a filing date, and dealing with the formalities examination. Information on the UPC will also be provided.

Furthermore the participant will have knowledge of the EPC procedure from search to grant as well as of the validation procedure including translations according to the London Agreement.

The participant will also be able to carry out and monitor the main procedural steps during all these phases.

 

IP Admin – PCT Procedures

By the end of this course, the participant will be able to file a PCT application using the RO/101 form, invoke priority, deal with the most frequently occurring issues for getting a filing date, and deal with both formality and prosecution tasks during the rest of the international phase and EP regional entry. Participants will have a good insight in time limits, remedies and fee payments and will be able to put the knowledge into practice. Furthermore the participant will be able to perform and monitor the main procedural steps during all these phases.

Jelle HoekstraJelle Hoekstra is a tutor for the Pre-Exam, all Main Exam Papers and IP Administrators’ courses. He is a European Patent Attorney. Jelle is author of the book “Methodology for Paper C” and of the book “References to the European Patent Convention” (www.hoekstradoc.nl).

 

Tanja la Cour HoekstraTanja la Cour is a tutor for the Main Exam Paper C and IP Administrators’ courses. She is a European Patent Attorney in the field of Life Science and Biotechnology.

 

 

Simone KosterSimone Koster is a tutor for the IP Administrators’ courses. She holds a law degree and is a certified Formalities Officer.
