EQE Paper M2 courses

Paper M2

Paper M2 assesses whether the candidate can apply the procedural and substantive patent law of the EPC and the PCT in both day-to-day and exceptional situations arising in the practice of professional representatives in proceedings before the EPO. It further assesses whether the candidate is familiar with all procedures established by the EPC and the PCT and with the procedural law in the countries defined in Rule 2(2) IPREE. The candidate must be able to identify and apply all available procedural options in a certain situation and to provide the client with suitable recommendations and provide legal bases.

Main Exam Paper M2 – EIPEF

The course aims at augmenting and deepening the knowledge acquired during the Basic (Foundation) Legal Training to a level required for the Paper M2 of the EQE Main Exam). Legal lectures will cover legal changes in the EPC & PCT since the Foundation, the more advanced legal subjects such as entitlement, enforcement, and petition for review. The Ancillary Regulations will be covered, as well as a specially selected subset of case law. Major part of this course is practicing D1 questions. This hybrid course features an onsite introductory session in Utrecht, The Netherlands, followed by interactive online sessions and mock exams  in WISEflow, ensuring a flexible and comprehensive learning experience. The course is designed to be highly interactive, so it is expected that for the online sessions participants will turn their cameras on and participate actively.

This course is aimed at candidates who passed the Foundation Paper in EQE 2026 and plan to take the Paper M2 in EQE 2027. We strongly advise candidates to prepare for papers M1 and M2 in the same year.

Paper M2 Distance Learning

DeltaPatents offers this new M2 Distance Learning course for candidates preparing for New EQE Main Exam Paper M2. This course not only includes our M2 Methodology (2 half-day M2 Methodology and 6 half-days M2 cases) but also gives candidates the opportunity to gear up their legal level by augmenting and deepening the knowledge acquired during the Foundation Legal training to a level of EQE Main Exam. To achieve this, we use the Main Exam Paper M2 Questions and Answers book as homework and present more advanced legal subjects.

Paper M2 Methodology

Methodology for dealing with the most common situations in the M2 exam. By the end of this course, you will understand how to score high points on M2 for the things that you know well and the things you do well. You will understand what must be handed-in to get points, and you will have practiced a proven approach for generating answers. We will discuss alternative answers and different styles that can also score points. You will also be given many rules-of-thumb to guide this approach, based on our many years of EQE experience. We will also provide practical tips about how to organize your reference materials, how to study, what to take to the exam. Where relevant, we will use WISEflow, giving you the opportunity to get familiar with the system used during the e-EQE. The Paper M2 Methodology course corresponds directly to the first course day of the 3-day Paper D Methodology course (D1/M2 part).

This course is aimed at candidates who passed the Foundation Module of the EQE in 2025 and plan to take the M2-paper in 2026. We strongly advise candidates to prepare for papers M1 and M2 in the same year.

Paper M2 Guided Exam

Preparing for paper M2 involves a lot of practice. Not only is it important to understand the underlying legal topics, but understanding how to read the questions, analyse the information given in the questions and how to formulate and present your answer (including how much detail to provide) has a significant impact on how well you do on the exam. However, this can be difficult to judge on your own.

In this course, you submit a homework paper before the course begins and receive personalised feedback from the tutor on your submitted work. The feedback is objective, specific to your answers and your answer style, to highlight aspects of your paper M2 preparation that you should focus on. During the session, you will be guided through further exam questions and will be able to ask questions and discuss issues, providing a lot of practice to help you best prepare for the exam. You will also have the opportunity to gain familiarity with the EQE exam system (Wiseflow) ahead of the real exam.

Paper M2 Guided Trial Run

An added hurdle to passing the M2 paper is the limited time to answer the questions. It is therefore imperative that you not only have a solid grasp of the legal concepts, but also have good time management skills to ensure that you have time to adequately address each question. This 2-day course provides a final test of EQE readiness by practicing with questions from recent DI papers under exam time conditions. During the course, we will use the EQE exam system (WISEflow), giving you the opportunity to become familiar with the software you will be using for the real exam. You will be guided by a knowledgeable tutor through the solutions of some exam-style questions, and you will solve other questions on your own. 

You will also learn about methodology and tactics for the paper, legal issues, exam techniques and answering style in order to assist you in earning as many marks as possible in your exam. By the end of the course, you will have identified any legal and/or methodological weaknesses and you will have a clear idea of where to focus your efforts in the last few weeks before the exam. The Paper M2 Guided Trial Run course corresponds directly to the first two course day of the 4-day Paper D Guided Trial Run course (D1/M2 part).
